A terrible series of events has left Akila and Dave Wienecke in a desperate situation. On Sunday, September 21, Akila was forced to defend themself from an aggressive, intoxicated person. In the aftermath of that traumatic experience, Akila was in a severe car accident involving multiple vehicles and an 18-wheeler.

Miraculously, Akila was uninjured, but the other drivers involved have all hired attorneys. First responders on the scene also found a small amount of cannabis in the car, leading to Akila's arrest on a misdemeanor charge. To make matters worse, the person who assaulted Akila is now pressing charges, despite it being a clear case of self-defense.

Now, Akila is facing legal battles on three fronts: civil cases from the car accident, a criminal charge for marijuana possession, and another criminal charge for defending themself.

The financial and emotional stress has forced both Akila and Dave to take time off work, leaving them with no income. On top of the piling legal fees, they still need to pay rent and other bills while also being a household with no car.
