Hi, my name is Karthik and I’m raising funds for my best friend and chosen brother, Akhil Dammu, who is currently fighting for his life in Hyderabad, India, after a terrible bike accident near Tirupati.

Akhil has been in my life since I was 3 years old. He's more than a best friend — he's family. In fact, he’s the third most important person in my life after my mom and sister. We’ve helped each other through everything, and now I’m doing everything I can to help him through this.

What Happened:

Just a few days ago, Akhil began a trip to Tirupati, a sacred place many of us visit before starting something big in life. Akhil had just landed a new job in the medical insurance domain, and wanted to offer prayers before joining in August.

He borrowed a friend’s bike and started riding from Hyderabad to Tirupati.

On the way, tragedy struck.

Akhil met with a serious accident. We believe he was trying to overtake when a truck appeared suddenly in front of him, leaving him no time to react.

His Condition:

He suffered a head injury with internal bleeding, and pieces of his skull have entered his brain, blocking blood flow.

He’s been unconscious for 3 days now, and doctors say he might take 10 more days or more to regain consciousness.

His jaw, shoulder, forearm, and leg are fractured, but doctors can’t begin surgeries until he wakes up.

He was initially admitted to a government hospital near Tirupati, but we’ve now shifted him to a private hospital in Hyderabad where he can receive the specialized care he urgently needs.

Why We Need Help

Akhil comes from a financially struggling family and they simply can’t afford this level of treatment. He used to work hard as a Rapido/Uber/Ola bike rider, and also did deliveries for Zomato and Swiggy, always hustling, always helping everyone around him.

This man NEVER says no when someone needs help, no matter the time, place, or cost. He’s been there for everyone. Now it’s our turn to be there for him.

Why I’m Doing This

My friends in India have already started a fundraiser through ImpactGuru, but I’m currently in Canada and trying to raise additional support here, especially since international transfers take time and costs are rising every day.
