Hello, my name is Akeem James, and I’m reaching out to ask for your support as I pursue a life-changing goal.

I graduated from Montclair State University in 2012 with a degree in Exercise Science. After working in the field for a few years, I stepped away and transitioned into locomotive transportation, where I’ve worked for the past nine years to provide stability for my growing family.

Today, I’m a husband, a homeowner, and a proud father of three young children. They are my reason for everything, and they’re the reason I’ve chosen to return to school to pursue my Doctorate in Physical Therapy.

But this journey comes with serious challenges.

I’m currently living with kidney failure and undergoing dialysis three times a week while I wait for a kidney transplant. Balancing the demands of treatment, rigorous academics, and providing for my family is incredibly difficult physically, emotionally, and financially.

Despite all this, I remain committed to finishing what I started and achieving my dream of becoming a Doctor of Physical Therapy so I can make a difference in the lives of others, especially those dealing with chronic illness and physical setbacks like myself.

Financial aid and grants are limited, and the costs of tuition, medical expenses, and supporting my family continue to grow. That’s why I’m humbly asking for your help.
