Hey folks, this is Akasha (StardustMoth). I'm a queer, disabled person of Mixed Black-Native background, who doesn't receive any SSI benefits & could use your assistance.
For full transparency: Until earlier this year, me & the family member I live with have been able to manage all of our bills without much concern. Since April of 2025, however, things have gradually become stressful. They were forced to leave work due to an injury they suffered while on the job, and have since been in an ongoing battle with Workmans Comp (to approve surgery and provide financial compensation).
During this period, we have mostly relied on the Unemployment & SNAP benefits my family member receives, to cover our finances; This is in addition to some assistance provided by other family members, along with the payment I receive from freelance work as a Twitch Moderator. However, this has left us in a position of being unable to pay National Grid as often. As of September 4th, 2025, I received a disconnect notice, stating that I had 72hrs to pay a bill of $1755.54, to avoid disconnect or face legal action. Thankfully, I was able to contact customer service on the following day, and set up an agreement.
Additionally, as of September 14th, my laptop - the device which I generally use for my freelance work - began to experience hardware issues & is now in need of repairs.
This is leaves me feeling embarrassed, and as a result I've debated reaching out for help. However, I cannot continue to be reluctant about reaching out. If you're able to provide any amount of support, I would appreciate it.
Thank you for understanding, and please share if you can <3 - StardustMoth
