Help Ajani Vaughn Walk Again – From Graduation Dreams to Medical Emergency
Short description-
Hi, my name is Ajani Vaughn. I’ve been passionate about soccer since I was 9 years old. For me, soccer wasn’t just a sport—it was a lifeline.

When I was 7, I lost my father, who was not only my hero but a man of deep faith and purpose. Both of my parents were missionaries who moved to Belize to do God’s work. Losing my dad destabilized our family in every way—spiritually, emotionally, and financially. But I made a promise to myself: I would make him proud.

Soccer became my escape, my discipline, and my hope. It helped me stay focused, driven, and grounded in faith. Through God’s grace and hard work, I earned a scholarship to attend Cornerstone University, where I pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management. I completed my program in December 2024 and was scheduled to graduate in May 2025—a dream I had carried with me for years.

But on April 12th, 2025, just days before my graduation and while visiting Belize, my life changed drastically. I was playing in a match when I collided with the goalkeeper. The impact was devastating: I dislocated my knee and suffered complete tears in my ⸻

Knee Ligament Injuries (from dislocation):
• ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament): Fully torn
• PCL (Posterior Cruciate Ligament): Fully torn
• MCL (Medial Collateral Ligament): Fully torn near the top
• LCL (Lateral Collateral Ligament): Almost fully torn
• MPFL (Medial Patellofemoral Ligament): Torn at its origin (connects kneecap to inner knee)

Bone & Cartilage Injuries:
• Fracture under the cartilage of your thigh bone (lateral femoral condyle)
• Bone bruise in the shinbone (proximal tibia)
• Joint bleeding (hemarthrosis) – blood and joint fluid leaking into the soft tissues

Nerve Injury:
• Mild injury to the common peroneal nerve – causing swelling around the nerve (likely from being stretched)
• This nerve controls movement in your foot (possible weakness or foot drop)

Meniscus Injury:
• Tear in the back of the medial meniscus – the shock-absorbing cartilage inside the knee

Other Soft Tissue Issues:
• Posterior capsule tear – damage to the back lining of the knee joint
• Tendon strain at the popliteus – a small muscle behind your knee
• Patellar tendon irritation – where it attaches to the kneecap
• Swelling and bruising in the fat pad under your kneecap

I went from preparing for my graduation and future career to being unable to walk without help. I had so many plans—to give back, to work, to inspire others the way my parents inspired me. Now, I’m struggling just to get the medical care I need.

Because I recently completed my degree, I don’t have medical insurance and no financial safety net to cover the cost of surgery or rehabilitation. The road ahead is long, painful, and expensive—but I haven’t given up hope.

I’m humbly asking for your help. Your support will go directly toward:

Surgery costs

Rehabilitation and physical therapy

Medical equipment and follow-up care

Living expenses during my recovery

Every donation, share, and prayer helps bring me one step closer to healing and moving forward. I’ve always fought for my future, and I still believe in it—with God’s help and your support.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

With love and strength,
Ajani Vaughn
