The Start of a New Journey
For those who do not know me, my name is Ajah Carey and I am a 24-year old full-time nursing student, working part-time to pay off tuition expenses. My goal is to become a nurse and give back to others just as I have had the privilege of receiving helping hands throughout my life.
For the past few months I've lost over 10 pounds, have been extremely fatigued, and sometimes have slept over 12 hours a day. In addition to these symptoms, I'd noticed some lumps on my neck which felt abnormal. On April 16, 2021, I was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma, a cancer of the lymph nodes. At this time I try to move forward with a "Will Win" attitude because, after all that I've endured, I know that this is something I can overcome.
I am expected to start chemotherapy in June, and at this time I am planning for fertility treatment as chemotherapy can cause infertility. Fertility treatment is not covered by insurance, however, I am determined to get this treatment for my future.
I've included pictures of my PET scans to be as transparent as possible. The yellow throughout my body, specifically on my neck, right underarm, and right lung are indications of the tumors.

At this time I am asking for donations as an urgent need in order to start chemotherapy and fertility treatment, as well as prayers from my family and friends. I hope to be intentional about this journey and embrace every obstacle along the way. I promise to keep everyone updated throughout this process and I love you all.
