Hi, if you're reading this... You're either a life friend of mine, network or even client (or complete stranger!). And regardless of which of these you are, you are someone who I feel confident I can share this story with you... and ask for your help.
I'd like to share a story about an incredible human that I have had the pleasure of knowing for over the past 2 years....
The Crisis
In the last week of February 2025, our dear friend and colleague AJ suffered a severe heart attack due to a blood condition that caused excessive strain on his heart. At just 34 years old, this unexpected medical emergency has turned his world upside down.
AJ has already undergone surgery, but complications from blood-thinning medication have caused swelling in his right hand, requiring additional treatment. While health insurance has covered part of the hospital bills, there are still significant out-of-pocket expenses.
About AJ
AJ is the definition of selflessness. Anyone who meets him walks away feeling uplifted by his generous spirit and positive energy. He's the kind of person who always puts others first, even when facing his own challenges.
As the primary provider for his growing family – including three children (the youngest just over 1 year old and the oldest in his teens) and a baby on the way – this medical emergency couldn't have come at a worse time. His wife, who works part-time, is now caring for both AJ and their children.
A Year of Unimaginable Challenges
This heart attack is just the latest in a series of hardships that have tested AJ's strength:
- In July 2024, his newborn son underwent surgery to correct a birth defect
- While the family was at the hospital, their home town experienced some serious flooding and his home flooded, with the entire bottom level submerged underwater
- His mother and sister heroically moved everything to the second floor, including the refrigerator
- Only weeks before all this (Jan, 2025), AJ lost his father in an unexpected tragedy.
Despite these crushing blows, AJ has maintained his characteristic optimism and concern for others.
How Your Donation Will Help
We're aiming to raise $5,000 AUD to:
- Cover outstanding medical bills and ongoing treatment costs
- Provide financial stability for AJ's family during his recovery
- Allow AJ to focus on healing without the stress of financial pressure
- Support his wife and children during this difficult adjustment period
