Help AJ Heal: Overcome Brain Injury Together
Donation protected
AJ is a fun-loving, helpful, kind, and generous young man. Everyone who knows him can agree. Right now, AJ could use our help more than ever.
On Saturday, September 7, the unthinkable happened. AJ suffered a fall that has left him in the Neurological Critical Care Unit where he will most likely be for at least another week.
AJ has multiple skull fractures, brain bleeds and contusions on his brain. The scans show lots of swelling, but doctors are hopeful that the swelling and bleeding has not progressed after reviewing his last few scans.
He has made some good progress as he is no longer needing assistance breathing, is able to move, and speak. While these are great signs, brain injuries can be unpredictable which is why he is remaining under critical care and being closely monitored by the neurological team. AJ is in a lot of pain, and they are doing the best they can to alleviate some of his pain to make him more comfortable.
With a brain injury like his, the recovery will be long, painful and tiresome. He is a fighter, and will continue to fight through this and come home.
While many friends and family members would like to visit, it is in his best interest to rest as much as he can to try to reduce the swelling and continue healing.
He has a long road ahead of him, and we ask for your help on his behalf. Whether through donating to help ease the burden of his medical bills, sharing his story, and of course- continuing to send positive thoughts, prayers and good intentions his way.
With love and gratitude,
Caroline, Laura, Tony, and the family

About your donations: AJ’s girlfriend, Caroline Heffernan, has set up this page to help alleviate the financial stress from his injury. All donations will be directly used towards paying for AJ’s therapy services and medical bills going forward. This is a long road to recovery, and every little bit helps. The funds will go into an account that AJ will use to pay off his bills. He is gradually improving, and we will be there every step of the way to help him. It really takes a village, and we cannot thank you enough for your generosity.
