On May 5th, In the evening A.j. Gallegos was riding his motorcycle home and was hit by a vehicle. He was rushed to Harborview and and had life threatening injuries. Doctors weren’t sure at the time if they could save his leg. After 4 hours of immediate surgery they were able to salvage his left leg. They also were able to fix his left arm that was broken. After three days A.j. Finally was able to talk. Doctors explained to him that in order to save his leg and not amputate it they had to do a surgery known as a free flap. It’s where they take a muscle from his back and put it in his leg and then he had to have nerves taken from his right leg and put into his left leg. They also had to do a skin graft to cover it. Now three weeks later he was discharged from the hospital. He is doing better but isn’t allowed to work until further notice. A.j. Is the only one that is working and paying the bills in his home, and wasn’t prepared for such a tragic event. For someone that has been dependent on himself he is now in a whole new world of having to depend on everyone else for help with every aspect of his life. He is a loving father of three small children Jake, Layla and Logan. We are just happy that he survived, but he can definitely use any help he can get to get him by in this tough time. Thank you.
