Life can change in an instant. For AJ and Tammy, that moment came earlier this year not once, but twice.
In March, AJ was preparing for a routine surgery to relieve severe nerve pain when everything changed. Just weeks before his operation, he suddenly lost the ability to walk. Rushed to the emergency room at Cedars-Sinai, doctors discovered the true cause: a tumor inside his spinal cord that had been previously missed. He underwent emergency surgery to remove it, but the damage had already been done.
AJ has been fighting to recover ever since. After three weeks in inpatient rehab and ongoing physical therapy, he continues to work hard every day, but the nerve damage was extensive, and no one can say for certain if he'll ever walk again.
As if that weren't enough, while AJ was facing this terrifying diagnosis, Tammy received devastating news of her own: aggressive breast cancer. In June, she underwent a double mastectomy, and she's now begun months of chemotherapy. Once treatment is over, she'll need another surgery and, with hope, will eventually be able to return to work.
Together, they're navigating unimaginable challenges, emotionally, physically, and financially.
I've started this GoFundMe because AJ and Tammy need our help. They are facing enormous medical bills, lost income, and daily costs of simply trying to live while focusing on healing. The stress of survival should not be something they have to carry alone.
If you are able to give, no matter the amount, please know that your support will help ease their burden and bring a little peace during this storm. And if you're unable to donate, sharing this page is a powerful act of kindness too. Most importantly, we ask for your prayers.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for caring, for helping, and for holding AJ and Tammy in your thoughts during the fight of their lives.
