Help Aiza Beat Breast Cancer !

Hello, I'm Saad, and I'm reaching out to you to support my sister-in-law, Aiza, as she battles breast cancer. Aiza, a beautiful young woman who just turned 29 in June 2023, received the devastating diagnosis that she has Stage II Triple Negative Breast Cancer, a highly aggressive variant. The cancer has spread from her right breast to her axillary lymph nodes, and her treatment involves extensive chemotherapy and immunotherapy cycles, for the next 6 months, followed by surgery and the possibility of radiation therapy cycles. All in all, a full calendar year of cancer treatment lies ahead. Her treatment commenced from 2nd June, 2023.

Dealing with cancer is an immense emotional and financial burden, and Aiza's health is on the front end of a long war, marking the beginning of a challenging journey for her. This diagnosis has not only had a profound effect on Aiza but also on our entire family. Her amazing husband, my brother Sohaib, along with hers and our loving parents, have been strong advocates in providing unwavering support.

Despite the immense tribulations caused by aggressive cancer and its equally aggressive treatment, Aiza continues to fight bravely through the grueling chemotherapy regimen and its side effects. She is receiving treatment at the Ziauddin University Hospital in Karachi, a renowned teaching hospital institution in Pakistan with a proven 26 year track record of cancer treatment.

During the course of her treatment, Aiza will likely be unable to work for more than a year. Expenditures currently include chemotherapy & very expensive immunotherapy, weekly blood tests, surgical & medical oncology consultations, intermediate CT/PET scans, and monthly Zoladex injections to preserve her fertility chances. Further expenses include surgery, possible radiotherapy, pathology/biopsy procedures and a year long adjuvant course of immunotherapy. This does not account for ER visits in case of complications from the therapy.

Even with limited corporate healthcare insurance, these expenses accumulate over time. As Aiza cannot resume work due to the severity of her treatment, and faces the possibility of being let go eventually, we are seeking donations to support her.

The estimated cost of therapy is $20,000 (USD). Unfortunately, cancer neo adjuvant and adjuvant treatment, diagnostic tests, surgery etc. are exorbitantly expensive in Pakistan, making it impossible for salaried middle class couples to afford for the long term. Given Pakistan's pay-as-you-go privatized healthcare system, with non-existent government healthcare support or subsidy, we have started a GoFundMe campaign to request financial donations. Our goal is to raise enough funds to cover Aiza's treatment expenses, to give this young lady the fighting chance to survive this ordeal and be a mum one day, her greatest wish.
