I'm Aiyah Maraka, originally from Hebron, Palestine, and currently dividing my time between the United States and Mexico City. My friend Maryam Tajuri, whom I met in Mexico City a couple of years ago, has relocated to Egypt for the past five months to spend time with the children and families of Gaza. I am combining our efforts to raise funds for these displaced families. Every donation will be meticulously tracked, and we can report how the funds are utilised. The proceeds will primarily go towards crucial expenses such as medical treatment for trauma injuries and ongoing conditions like cancer, as well as covering the costs of shelter and basic necessities.

In today's world, what we're witnessing is more than just a conflict; it's a humanitarian crisis of epic proportions. While we may find relief in stories of individuals escaping Gaza, the reality is that their suffering doesn't end there. These families are now tasked with enduring the trauma of their experiences, not just for their own lifetimes but for generations to come. They must navigate the daunting challenge of rebuilding their lives from scratch, having lost their homes, livelihoods, and sense of normalcy.

As they seek shelter in Egypt, they face a multitude of obstacles. They lack the resources to provide for their basic needs, including shelter, medical care, and sustenance. It's imperative that we stand in solidarity with them during this time.

Even a modest contribution can make a significant impact. For instance, $1000 can help 7-8 families afford a month's rent, offering them a semblance of stability amid chaos. We will also aim to get these families' passports so the children can enrol in schools and continue their education. Our small actions can potentially alleviate immense suffering.

In times of crisis, it's vital that we come together as a global community, extending compassion and support to those in need. While the suffering may not be unfolding in our immediate surroundings, it is crucial to recognise our shared humanity and act accordingly.
