I never imagined I’d be in this situation, but an electrical fire has changed everything for me and my family. I’m Aisha, a single mother of five—two in college, two in high school, and one in kindergarten. Yesterday, I took my son for a walk in the park, and when we returned, our home was torched and flooded. In an instant, all of our belongings were gone. By the grace of God, no one was injured. My cat and fish are safe, but sadly, one of our turtles passed away in the soot in his water.
Now, I have to start over. With the help of my family, friends, and peers, I hope this will be a smooth transition, but my children are having the toughest time coping with this tragedy. It’s heartbreaking to see them struggle, and I’m doing everything I can to stay strong for them. All I can say is thank you, God, because we’re still here, standing and able to tell our story.
I need all the prayers and help I can get. Every bit of support will make a difference as we rebuild our lives and replace the essentials we lost. Thank you for reading, for caring, and for helping us move forward.
