My Mother’s Fading Sight — and Our Fight to Save It

My name is Shahed Nassar, and I’m 17 years old.
My mother has always been the light of our home — but now, the light in her eyes is slowly fading.
It’s just the three of us: my mother, my sister, and me. We’ve always faced life together — through laughter, tears, and the sounds of bombs that tore through our city.

Our home was once filled with the gentle sound of her voice, teaching us strength and hope. But after the war, that home turned into rubble — we lost our shelter, and now we live in a small tent that doesn’t protect us from the heat of summer or the cold of winter. We lost all our basic necessities, even clothes. Nothing remains but memories… and fear of what comes next.

As the situation worsened, my mother’s constant fear began to affect her body as well — she developed vitiligo, which has spread across her skin. She needs expensive medical treatment sessions for this condition, which is another heavy burden on our small family. Still, she tries to smile, hiding her pain, her hands trembling as she struggles to see our faces clearly. The thought that she might never see her two daughters’ faces again breaks her heart.

I am a student who just finished high school, and I dream of going to university to build a better future — but I can’t afford the tuition fees. My older sister lost her job, leaving us without a home or any source of income. With my mother’s health declining day by day, everything feels impossible.
And yet, I still believe that even in the darkest times, kindness can bring light.

We need someone to bring a spark of hope into our lives. Every bit of help — no matter how small — can be the light that breaks through our darkness.

That’s why I’m here — asking for help, asking for a miracle.
Every donation, no matter how small, can help cover the cost of my mother’s eye surgery, her vitiligo treatments, help us rebuild a small place to live, and give my sister and me a chance to continue our education.

Please, help us save my mother’s sight, help her heal from the fear that marked her body, and help restore hope to our little family.

Your support can save my mother — and bring life back to me and my sister.
