Meet Aisha!
Aisha is 31 years young and lives in Cairo, Egypt. She is mother to two lovely children. We met during one of my travels in the country, where she and her family helped me out a lot and showed incredible hospitality, despite going through great hardships themselves.
Aisha has been suffering from a myriad of health problems, including vasculitis and kidney disease, since she was 25 years old. Unfortunately, she has not received any medical treatment for years due to financial difficulties. Healthcare, especially diagnostics, is very expensive for the average working class Egyptian. Including diagnostics, doctors’ visits, and medication, Aisha’s medical needs exceed $100 USD per month. Her husband’s salary as a bus driver is very meager, totaling around $60 USD per month, with which he has to feed a family of four, send his children to school, and pay rent for an apartment, after he had already sold his home to cover his wife’s medical bills. Due to her poor health, Aisha is unable to work, leaving her husband as the sole breadwinner. Because the family can barely cover even basic necessities in installments, seeking medical attention is completely out of question for Aisha. Due to this long neglect, Aisha’s health problems have been adding up, raising the cost of healthcare even further.
Aisha’s family helped me a lot during my trip to Egypt, therefore I see it as my duty to give whatever I can to help this loving mom finally get healthy again. However, being a student myself, my own abilities are limited. That’s where I need your help: with only $120 USD per month, we can ensure that Aisha gets the medical care she needs. This amount will cover her monthly diagnostics, doctor’s visits, and medication, while surplus amounts can be saved for transportation costs, a personal healthcare fund, and family emergencies. Please note that this amount is just the minimum, since costs are unpredictable after such long neglect. Every cent will go to Egypt!
