Help Ainsley buy a bone conducting hearing aid
Donation protected
Hi. My name is Ainsley and two years ago I partially lost the hearing in my left ear from a viral illness. I tried everything available to combat this loss including painful steroid injections. Once it was determined it wouldn’t return, I managed with a hearing aid which I paid for myself, maxing out my health insurance.
Last year, again suddenly, I lost the remainder of the hearing on the left side and developed vertigo. The hearing aid that I purchased only works when there's residual hearing. I am now completely deaf on the left side.
I struggle to hear my family, friends and cannot understand speech at all in loud or busy environments. I can’t locate where sound is coming from and find it difficult, frustrating and unsafe. I feel more and more socially disconnected from my community and have had to step back from all of my volunteering as I can't hear well enough.
The best solution for single-sided deafness is a bone conducting system which costs $3500. This device sticks behind the ear and uses the skull to transmit sound from the left deaf ear to the right hearing ear. It's the best non-surgical option for this degree of loss.
I work with a local non-profit https://www.wavefrontcentre.ca/about-us/our-story/ that offers the best price for the devise and supports low income seniors to fit repurposed used hearing aids.
Please support me to purchase this important piece of equipment so I may hear again.
