To know Aimee is to love her.
We’ve been friends since the day we met in 2012 at Spoken Soul Festival.
If you’ve ever met Aimee (whether through friends, family, school, the arts, her many years in the production world, or her adventures as a standup comic), you know she is the sweetest, funniest, and most vibrant person in the room. It’s easy to love her, which makes it all the more heartbreaking to see her battling things no one should ever have to face.
The Long Road of Health Battles
Aimee’s journey has been an uphill climb since October 2020, when she was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer. Due to the pandemic, her treatment was tragically delayed, and she didn’t undergo surgery to remove her thyroid until February 2021. Living without a thyroid brings its own set of life-altering challenges, and despite multiple rounds of radiation and grueling treatments, Aimee has never officially reached remission.
A New, Sudden Crisis
Just weeks ago, while we were working together, Aimee began experiencing terrifying symptoms: numbness and tingling in her hands and feet that quickly spread to her face and legs. This led to her being admitted to the hospital last Friday where she was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS), a rare and serious autoimmune disorder where the body’s immune system attacks the nervous system. It has left her weak and without full mobility. While she is currently still hospitalized receiving treatment, once discharged, she will require extensive time in a rehabilitation center to regain her mobility and strength.
The Burden on Her Family
This crisis has hit at the most difficult time. Not only is Aimee unable to work, but she is also the primary support for her elderly mother, who is currently ill as well.
How You Can Help
We are reaching out to Aimee’s community (her friends, colleagues, and family) to help. We want Aimee to focus entirely on regaining her full mobility and strength to recover from GBS and beat cancer, without the crushing stress of how to pay for her mounting medical bills and daily living expenses for both her and her mom.
All funds raised will go directly to Aimee’s personal account to be used immediately for:
* Daily living expenses for Aimee and her mother
* Support for specialized care during her recovery from GBS, including inpatient rehabilitation
* Aimee and her mother’s ongoing medical care
If you are unable to donate at this time, you can still make a massive difference by sharing this link with your network and keeping Aimee and her mother in your prayers.
Thank you for your generosity, your prayers, and for loving Aimee. We will keep you updated on her progress as she fights her way back to health.
Aimee, you are strong, my friend, and every cell in your body is fighting every single day for you to be healthier and stronger. I’m grateful in advance for the huge miracle that’s coming to you. I know that there are powers greater than us, and I don’t know how they’re gonna do it, but I know that higher power is taking care of you and restoring your health even as we speak. I love you and look forward to crossing more things off your bucket list with you in the future.
