I'm Brca1 so I had my ovaries removed & still got cancer!

My name is Aimee. I have done everything humanly possible to survive, but the medical system has completely failed me. After watching my beautiful mother and sister suffer and die from breast and ovarian cancer, I found out I tested positive for the BRCA1 gene mutation. Watching them die broke my heart, and I promised myself I would do whatever it took to stay alive. I made the agonizing choice to undergo preventative surgeries: a double mastectomy and the removal of my ovaries. I sacrificed my body to ensure I would never get the diseases that killed my family.

Instead of protecting me, the surgeons botched my procedures. My chest reconstruction went terribly wrong, leaving me physically scarred. The true devastation came recently when I found out that during my ovary removal, the surgeons left behind a portion of my right ovary and precancerous cells. Because of their medical negligence, the very nightmare I gave up everything to avoid has come true. I have now been diagnosed with Stage 3 incurable ovarian cancer.

The emotional cruelty of this situation is unbearable. I was my mother’s primary caregiver and held her hand as she died from this exact disease. Now, in a twist of absolute irony and heartbreak, my chemotherapy is scheduled for June 4th—the anniversary of the day my mother passed away. I will be sitting in a chemo chair, fighting for my life against her disease, on the day I should be honoring her memory.

I am facing an immediate financial emergency. Between the physical toll of Stage 3 cancer and the sudden onslaught of medical bills, I cannot work. I need help to cover immediate living expenses like rent, utilities, and groceries, as well as transportation and aftercare costs for chemotherapy. This support will provide emergency financial stability while I navigate this diagnosis and treatment. I did everything right, and I was still handed a death sentence. Please help me fight this. Any support—whether a donation or sharing my story—would mean the world to me.
