Debate is a really important part of my life. When I first joined, I loved speaking but was really shy and not confident at all. Becoming part of a supportive debate community changed everything for me. I found friends who encouraged me, and I learned how to express my ideas and speak out in the world. Debate has helped me grow so much, and I’m grateful for the opportunities it’s given me.

Recently, I was chosen to be captain of my debate team for the next two years. This is a huge honor, and I want to do everything I can to be the best leader possible. That’s why I’m hoping to attend debate camp at Wake Forest University. I chose Wake because their program is known for helping debaters reach their full potential, and it’s very specific to the kind of arguments I want to focus on in the future. The camp includes dorms, food, housing, classes, personal coaching, and resources that will help me improve my skills in speaking, argumentation, and leadership.
