Help Aiden’s family with his medical bills
Donation protected
I’m starting this for my friend Erin whose sweet family of 4 has recently had their lives turned upside down by illness.
Several weeks ago they all came down with what seemed like your typical feel miserable for a week seasonal cold / flu. But after about 9 days everyone seemed to be starting to get better except 5 year old Aiden who had a fever of 105° and was admitted to the hospital. The hospital then ordered dozens of tests and scans to try and figure out what was wrong with the fun loving little boy. They were finally able to determine he has Kawasaki disease (see below for more information on what this is) and erythema nodosum. (which is when the vasculitis pops out on the shins and was so painful he couldn’t even walk) They were then able to start treating both conditions. After 6 days Aiden was able to go home to his family. He was doing good at home for 8 days until he spiked a 103° fever which is usually an indication of new inflammation and the erythema nodosum nodules on his shins popped up again so he was admitted back into the hospital. He’s doing 16 hour IV infusions currently and will hopefully head home in a couple days.
They are a single family income and with James taking time off while Aiden is sick the family is stressing about the medical bills that are stacking up with insurance only covering some of the hospital stay and not all of the numerous tests and medications. On top of everything kids are not allowed in the hospital right now so Erin and James are having to take turns visiting Aiden at the hospital which is 40 minutes away so he will not get to spend Thanksgiving with his whole family. I would like to help take away some of financial burden this ordeal has caused so they can focus on helping their munchkin get better. If you can give a dollar or two, share this or just pray for this family I know they would be beyond grateful!
For anyone who knows this family they are often fostering abandoned and sick kittens, helping struggling moms and spreading kindness. They make our community a better place and are not ones to ask for help but could use a little bit right now. I did get permission from Erin before creating this. Thank you for taking the time to read this! Stay healthy and Happy Thanksgiving!
Kawasaki disease causes swelling (inflammation) in children in the walls of small to medium-sized blood vessels that carry blood throughout the body. Kawasaki disease commonly leads to inflammation of the coronary arteries, which supply oxygen-rich blood to the heart.
Kawasaki disease was previously called mucocutaneous lymph node syndrome because it also causes swelling in glands (lymph nodes) and mucous membranes inside the mouth, nose, eyes and throat.
