As many may know, back in December 2023, Aiden had his tonsils and adenoids out. They went to put tubes in his ears but found a type of tumor that grew in his right ear. After
extensive MRI, CT scan, and doctor appointments, they decided the best bet was surgery because the tumor was so close to a nerve in the brain stem. Aiden had a 15-hour surgery to remove the tumor. It destroyed all his hearing bones, tissue, and cartilage inside the ear. The tumor was so close to the brain that they had to have a brain surgeon in there with him, watching every move just in case it hit that nerve that would paralyze the right side of his face. Thankfully, it didn't.
Fast forward to October 2024, Aiden has to have surgery again. The tumor grew back, and this time it required a 10-hour surgery to remove the tumor. They decided to put hearing bones in to see if he could get his hearing back. After numerous audiograms and seeing his surgeon numerous times, Aiden has not regained any hearing in his right ear, and he won't. The surgeon said sometimes it works for people and sometimes it doesn't. Unfortunately, it didn't work for Aiden.
Now another dilemma happens. Aiden needs a hearing aid and his insurance won't cover one for him. I've made phone calls to every hearing place his doctor recommended and every place online that wasn't in NYC. I even called the insurance company, and they recommended two places in Rochester and two places in NYC. I called both in Rochester, and they stopped accepting his insurance in August. I'm lost on what to do. They are telling me a hearing aid for Aiden can run from $1,500 to $6,000, and I just don't have those kinds of funds. I also don't qualify for credit care; trust me, I tried. I really need help. I will show all receipts, anything I can show for proof. Aiden being deaf in his ear is affecting his education and home life. Please, if you can't donate, just share this. It might reach the right people or person that can help us. Thank you so much. We appreciate any help and will forever be grateful.
