Two nights ago, my sister and her 8-year-old son, Aiden, were in a devastating accident while driving home to Oregon from a work conference in California.
Just outside Sacramento, their tire blew out on the freeway. After hours of struggling to replace it safely, my sister and her two friends had finally finished putting on the spare when tragedy struck. As they turned toward the car, another vehicle hit it — with Aiden still inside.
The impact was so powerful that the car was thrown about 30 feet away. In the chaos and darkness, my sister searched frantically until she found her son and the wrecked vehicle. Aiden was badly hurt and had to be airlifted by helicopter to a nearby hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery to repair his leg.
Aiden faces a long recovery, both physically and emotionally. The trauma of that night has deeply affected him and his parents — something no family should ever have to endure.
Their car was completely totaled, and being far from home has added enormous financial stress on top of the emotional toll. My sister is now trying to manage travel, medical bills, and temporary lodging — all while caring for her recovering child.
We are asking for support to help them with:
• Medical bills and ongoing care for Aiden
• Temporary lodging and travel expenses
• Replacing their totaled vehicle
• Lost work time and financial strain as they rebuild
Any donation, big or small, would mean the world to them. If you can’t give, please consider sharing this page to help spread the word.
Thank you for your prayers, kindness, and support during this incredibly difficult time.
❤️
With love and gratitude,
Ofelia, Luis, and the Muñoz Family
