Help Aidan Hear Again (With New Hearing Aids!)

Hi everyone! Since I was 13, I have dealt with major hearing loss of over 95db loss bilaterally. With powerful hearing aids, I am able to overcome this and get through daily life. After losing one hearing aid in 2019, my other hearing aid has finally broken. Since I got these hearing aids in 2013, they are no longer covered by insurance and are past their usual lifespan of 5 years. The new hearing aid technology is great, allowing me to hear much clearer than ever before, however expensive. The government provides up to $1000 ($500 per side) in assistance through the Assistive Devices Program, and my work insurance will cover another $500. With the total cost for new hearing aids being $5500, this brings my out-of-pocket expense to $4000.

If we are able to raise $2000 in 30 days, an AMAZING donor has offered to DOUBLE what we raise to bring me to the total needed of $4000 to fund my new hearing aids.

Imagine walking into a store, where everyone is wearing masks, leaving you unable to lipread. Imagine going to work, and being unable to follow conversation during large group meetings without an interpreter or closed captioning. Imagine going to school, and missing what is said every time the teacher turns to refer to what is on the board or screen. Imagine trying to go to the theatre, to find out the closed captioning machines are not working, leaving you missing 70% of the movie. Imagine not being able to hear your loved ones say "I love you." This is my daily life.

In speaking with my audiologist, the hearing aids I am hoping to get are the Phonak Naída. A modern hearing aid with the power to overcome my hearing loss, with a rechargeable battery, and the ability for Bluetooth and accessory compatibility (such as an FM system).

Having one hearing aid was difficult but doable, although I didn't realize how much I relied on it until it was gone. Not having a hearing aid has lately taken a large toll on my mental and emotional well-being. Asking for help is never easy, and not something I ever want to do, but I need your help.
