Help Aidan get a Hip Replacement
Donation protected
Hi all, as some of you may be aware with me putting some of the things on Facebook about the pain I've experienced with my hip over the years.
I have been off on the sick unable to work for the past 5 months as I was in that much pain being on my feet. From day 1 of being on the sick I began pursuing treatment via the NHS. As a child I had Perthes Disease which causes a bone deformity in the hip joint, fewer than 1% of the population have Perthes Disease. I had corrective surgery as a child when I was 8 years old and I have lived a normal life pretty much, until now. I seem to have nose dived in pain since May. Being 28 years old needing hip replacement surgery is daunting.
Due to the current pandemic we are in I have not yet received any treatment from the NHS, because of fewer appointments & the forever increasing backlog of untreated patients like myself etc.
I had an x-ray on my hip in July. From looking at the xray you can see the top of my femur is rough; so with every step I take and with every bit of weight I put on my hip, the rough edge of my femur rubs right up against my cartlidge in my hip which is causing me an unbelievable amount of pain.
With that being said; I've tried doing as much as I can to help alleviate the pain myself. I have lost over 12kg in weight so far to take any extra weight off my hip. I have been in the gym doing "low impact' exercises (physiotherapy) everyday to build up the muscles around my hip to try help alleviate the pain. I have been having deep tissue massages on and around my hip joint. I'm completely maxed out on all the drugs I can take from the doctors but yet the pain still comes right through and cripples me.
You name it, I've pretty much tried it or am doing it I can assure you. I've left no stone unturned to help with the pain.
So the reason why I am asking for donations is because I saw the surgeon yesterday and he told me the wait for hip replacement surgery will be 12 months via the NHS.
That's when I completely broke down and cried in front of the doctor.
"I can't wait 12 months doc, I've no quality of life now"
The doctor then suggested going private for a hip replacement, as it will be much quicker than the NHS.
I returned to work only last week on light duties. I now need to stay in work orelse I fear I'm going to end up losing my job for being off too long.
Normally I wouldn't ask anyone for anything as I've always worked so hard for everything I've got.
But I'm desperate and I don't have any other options right now. So I am asking for donations to help me fund for my hip replacing please. I want my life back!
I want to be able to do the simple things again in life, going for a walk without being in pain, walking to the kitchen to make a drink without being in pain, go to and stay asleep without being in pain, take my grandma out for a walk in her wheelchair without being in pain.

I would be extremely grateful for donations to help me fund for my hip replacing as this will be a new lease of life for me, it really will.
The total cost for a hip replacement are as follows -
Standard hip replacement costing:
Hospital charges £10,000
Prof Board's fee £1750
Anaesthetist fee in the region of £600
Postoperative consultations will be invoiced as and when they occur at £160 for each consultation. I will be having 2 consultations at the very least. A consultation at 6 weeks and a consultation at a year post-op.
Followed by two months of recovery at home on SSP which is £96.35 a week. (Edit, the company who I work for have said they will make an exception in my circumstances and pay me full pay for the 2 months that I will be at home for) - which I am so relieved of, words cannot describe how elated and relieved I am at that news, I shed even more tears at the relief!

I don't know what kind of success this fundraiser will achieve but I'm out of ideas and I'm clutching at straws. I've struggled so much over the past 6 months. I need this hip replacing now, not in 12 month's time.
Finally can I just say, if you are kind and generous enough to make a donation I will be eternally grateful to each and everyone who does so. Let's get me back smiling again, one love everybody ❤
