Aidan and Dana have been accepted to the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland! We need your help to get them there.
Aidan is a cellist and a scholar who has won competitions and audiences with his panache and mellifluous tone. Dana's mezzo-soprano voice has has been compared to rich chocolate, creamy caramel, or warm cinnamon, and she has won numerous national competitions in her first year as a competitor. These two are all-American kids with a dream, and they have both earned scholarships to get them there. Almost.
I am their mom, teacher, and collaborative pianist. I lost my church job at the start of the pandemic and could not collect unemployment, as churches are exempt from unemployment taxes. I found part-time work, but our debts became substantial, and we had to cash out all of our assets and max out our credit cards just to survive. We have applied for and been granted student and parent plus federal loans to cover the tuition, room & board fees beyond their scholarships, but we do not have the money to pay the initial expenses involved in getting the kids to RCS, their visas ($7000 for both), plane tickets, luggage, clothing, incidentals etc. If by some miracle we exceed our Go Fund Me goal, any additional funds will go directly to offset student then parent loans.
Centuries ago, Aidan and Dana might have had the support of wealthy patrons of the arts to further their education and performance opportunities. Perhaps crowd sourcing will be the modern equivalent. Here's hoping!
Please take a look at our video for more about our story, or visit my YouTube channel to see recordings of these remarkable young people. Thank you for your consideration, and we hope that you enjoy the music we have to share with you!
