Support AID FOR LIFE and Urgent Assistance to Migrants

An interview posted on AID FOR LIFE’s Instagram site chronicles the very long and hazardous journey of one family of five as it sought to escape the punitive laws of Chile and the violence of Venezuela in search of a better future here in the United States. Surviving both desert and jungle, sleeping on the streets of Mexico to avoid drug dealers, withstanding turbid river waters, their story is truly heartbreaking. Arriving in New York, this family of five is among 30,000 migrants recently served by the nonprofit organization AID FOR LIFE. An outgrowth of AID FOR AIDS, AID FOR LIFE began its work in 2018 launching a program to combat malnutrition in Venezuela. In 2022, AFL expanded its efforts to address the migration crisis in NYC. AFL provides newly arrived immigrants with food and clothing ensuring their urgent needs are met. AFL also connects people with critical health and legal services, offering in-house support or referrals to trusted partners to ensure they receive appropriate care. The agency has assisted more than 5,000 individuals with applications for asylum, Temporary Protected Status and US Citizen and Immigration work permits.

In an act of disdain, the Trump Administration recently revoked Temporary Protected Status for 600,000 Venezuelan migrants. ICE is actively conducting raids in New York City, targeting innocent men, women and children who have overcome life threatening obstacles to be here. Migrants are being terrorized, many afraid to even step out of their homes.
