Help Aid Eva’s Rescue Return & Vet Bills!

£243/279 as of 4.5.25!
Eva is a sweet ball python who I rescued around Christmas 2024. She was incredibly lively at night, and was a huge explorer. She spent several months with my small scale at home rescue, Chloe’s Exotic’s, until she was eating well and comfortable enough for a new home. In February, she was adopted into an extensively vetted home, where the owner displayed a passion and care for her, and was overall seemingly, able to care for her as he had previous exotics experience. The owner happily paid for a fully disinfected, ready to go setup with everything possible to make her feel at home. I also provided feeding charts, a tailored care guide and an adoption form.

Unfortunately, within the timeframe of owning her for 2 months, Eva hadn’t felt comfortable to eat with the new home, and had lost over 150g in weight, which can be quite significant since her species retains weight so well, so I knew something wasn’t quite right. I offered to come over to try to help despite it being close to a 2 hour drive, and within the same week the owner said he “wanted rid” of her and was happy to give her and the fully supplied setup back for free.

Upon arriving to the house, the adoptee had displayed several illegal weapons amongst the home decorated in snake skin, which was never previously seen during the past two home visits. Eva was freezing cold, sitting at 17°c, which is far too cold long term for a ball python. She had mild scale rot, and I noticed she had been living with decaying rodents inside her home. He had completely changed the setup into awful, unsuitable living conditions. He had chosen to turn off her heat source she needed, and admitted to overbearingly trying to feed her the wrong meals every single day, which majorly stressed her out. The adoptee was severely intoxicated, and begun refusing to return Eva back to us, which he had contractually agreed to prior to adoption if he had any issues. He swiftly became extremely physically abusive, to not only myself, and multiple public witnesses who attempted to help us, but he also hurt Eva during this, whilst refusing to return her.

We eventually managed to grab Eva from him, and had police intervention, however he had already caused damage to our car, even more damage to Eva’s belly, stretching and squeezing her in the process of this unexpected anger, and has severely impacted my pre-existing disability aswell as other injuries caused by him as I tried to defend poor Eva, as I had dealt several attacks and blows from this man twice my age and size.

After a tireless few hours of trying to stop him from attacking both myself, my partner and Eva, we managed to get back home. However the police explained we were not able to get her Vivarium, and so for the time being, she is living in a small Vivarium until we get the funds.

She is going to require a vet examination from our trusted exotics vet, as well as regular treatment at home for her scale rot. It is likely she may need scans, which will impact our current £279 by hundreds more. We will know the outcome by 9th May.

She is also going to require a new set up and all of the essentials needed for Vivarium, so we can get her back to eating as soon as possible once again.

The current goal is £279, which covers both her veterinary needs as well as housing.
As we expected her to still be in the same condition as she was when she was adopted, we did not expect her to require a vet nor a new setup.

At the moment, she is incredibly shut down and nothing like the Eva we had in our care several months ago. She will need to stay with us for a long period of time to ensure she is completely healthy and happy again, so the goal also includes long term costs for her treatment, food and care.

I appreciate everyone reading this may not be snake people - but please spare a thought as she is a very very loved girl, who loves nothing more to explore and be cared for. Any little helps will go a tremendous way!
