First, she was diagnosed with diabetes, and pancreatitis spending over a month and a half in the hospital off and on. Then another week recovering at home. Just as she began adjusting to that new reality, a recent ER visit brought even more difficult news: she now has lupus.

These diagnoses have taken a heavy toll — physically, emotionally, and financially. Because of her health, she lost her previous job and had to accept a lower-paying position just to stay afloat. Her new salary doesn’t come close to covering the mounting medical bills, prescription costs, and daily living expenses.

To make things even harder, she’s an hourly worker, meaning every doctor’s visit or sick day means losing much-needed pay. She’s struggling to afford her medications, copays, and basic necessities for herself and the younger child. She is trying to downsize into a smaller apartment. She has gotten rid of every extra expence and still has trouble keeping groceries in thw cupboards.
