Help My Family Flee Genocide
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Leah Beaulac, and I am co-fundraising with my dear friend of nearly a decade, Ahmed Seyam, to evacuate his immediate family out of Gaza.
Ahmed’s family has made the difficult decision to flee their homeland. His childhood home was destroyed in October, along with their life savings, and they have been internally displaced since, meaning his young nieces and nephews have been out of school and his parents and siblings out of work for nearly 5 months.
I’ve learned a lot from Ahmed and his gracious family over the years, and hope that can continue for decades to come. I’m co-organizing a fundraiser with Ahmed to help his family reach Egypt where they can start the process of applying for Canadian residency and join him in Ottawa after nearly a decade of being forcibly separated.
The Egyptian boarder charges per crossing. Currently, the rate is 2,500 USD per child under 16 and 5,000 USD for everyone over 16. Ahmed’s mother, father, five sisters, one brother, their spouses, and his eleven nieces and nephews are all still in Gaza (his niece, Zaina, 5 years old, is pictured in the cover photo). The amount raised from this fundraiser will go directly to boarder fees to ensure his family’s safe evacuation out of Gaza.
