Help Ahmed Ali Overcome Lymphoma

Ahmed Ali, a beloved husband and father from Egypt, moved to Austin, Texas in 2010. In mid-September 2024, Ahmed Ali came down with what seemed like a simple cold. Despite his efforts to rest and recover, his condition didn’t improve. After several weeks of not feeling well and not improving, I convinced him to see a doctor. We never imagined the path we would be on after that visit. On October 12, 2024, we began our day at a small clinic in Austin, hoping for a simple diagnosis and quick treatment. By the end of the day, we found ourselves in the emergency room where we received the shocking news: Ahmed had lymphoma.

The news was overwhelming. For three days, Ahmed was hospitalized, his condition worsened, and he was left without a definitive prognosis. Fearing the worst, he made the difficult decision to travel back to Egypt to be with his family, uncertain if he would make it through. But fate had something special in store for him. His family, determined to find the best possible care for him, connected with a renowned Egyptian Hematologist and Oncologist who had trained in Minnesota and later pioneered lymphoma treatment in Saudi Arabia. He had recently returned to Egypt and was ready to help.

Upon arriving in Egypt, Ahmed went straight to Grand Hospital, where his treatment began immediately. Within days, his health began to improve, and he responded positively to the first round of chemotherapy. With each treatment, he has grown stronger and more hopeful for a full recovery. We are incredibly relieved and grateful for the care he is receiving.

However, being in Egypt for treatment has placed an enormous financial strain on Ahmed and our family. Although medical care is more affordable in Egypt, the expenses have still been overwhelming, especially as Ahmed has been unable to work. We are now seeking support to cover the initial hospital stay and ongoing treatment costs.

After a significant amount of research and coordination, we have found an oncologist in Austin who will continue Ahmed’s chemotherapy regimen, and the treatment will be covered by our new health insurance. This gives us hope for the future, as Ahmed will be able to continue his care without interruption when he returns to the U.S. Ahmed is scheduled to return to Austin on December 26th and begin his treatment with Texas Oncology on January 2nd. We are asking for your help to ensure Ahmed can focus on his health and recovery without the added stress of mounting medical bills.
