Help Ahmed Afghan's Family Escape Danger

Help the US Fulfill a Moral Obligation
My name is Pablo Wolfe, and I am creating this fundraiser on behalf of Ahmed Afghan, who is an ally of the United States military with Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) status. Ahmed, his wife Jamila, and his children, Wafa and Nargis, were left behind when the U.S. pulled out of Afghanistan; now they are at daily risk of being found by the Taliban and killed.
Many of you know that I created a previous fundraiser for Gul Ahmad and his family. They are now settled and happy in a suburb of Baltimore, MD, with a large Afghani community to support them financially and emotionally. Gul has managed to purchase a car and is currently driving for Uber as he saves money to open his own auto garage with a partner. Gul and his family are grateful for the donations that made this degree of stability possible. It is through Gul that I met his brother, Ahmed. Our hope is that the same generous spirit that made Gul’s resettlement possible will bring his brother, Ahmed, and his family to safety.
I have teamed with the SAFA Network to secure safe passage for Ahmed and his family out of Afghanistan, but it is contingent on raising approximately $10,000. The cost breakdown for this sum can be found below. The current administration suspended the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP) on January 20, 2025, by executive order, freezing relocation flights and ceasing Reception and Placement (R&P) services for Afghan refugees, including those with SIV status like Ahmed and his family.
While those with SIV status are still legally entitled to resettlement in the United States, they have been left to their own devices to:
1) escape Afghanistan’s borders
2) cross into a neighboring country
3) get access to a US embassy
4) pay medical and visa fees, and
5) arrange for flights to the United States.
The financial and logistical burdens are impossible for virtually everyone in Ahmed’s position, and while he works to gather the necessary resources, he faces danger every day.
Ahmed writes:
Every week former government employees and NGO workers are arrested or killed in Helmand. I have spent multiple nights away from my home out of fear of being hunted down…As a father, I am deeply worried about the future of my children. My four-year-old daughter cannot attend school, my 20-year-old son faces no opportunities for higher education or a secure future under this regime.
We are living in chaotic and overwhelming times. Perhaps you find yourself questioning what you can meaningfully contribute when so much demands your attention and outrage. Through this fundraiser, Ahmed offers you a way to honor our debts as a country and to make life tangibly better for a man and a family that has made tremendous sacrifices. Please give generously and spread the word to your own networks.
Ahmed writes:
I have risked my life to support US missions and now I humbly ask for help in saving my, and my family’s lives. Any contribution, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to safety and a future free from fear. Unfortunately, I must say that our American allies made many promises to help me and my family stay safe in emergency situations, but so far they have not fulfilled those promises. Some of my friends have been helped and now live in America with a good and secure life. However, people like me are still left in Afghanistan, and the promises made to us have not yet been honored.
I, too, want to go to America to ensure the safety of my family and myself and to build a better future. I want to help my daughter and son achieve their dreams. I want to work toward a better life using the skills and experience I gained from working with my American allies for the benefit of myself, my family, and American society. My hope and my children's hope can only be fulfilled with your help.
How your money will be spent:
$1350 x 4 people = $5400.00 - visas
$500 x 4 = $2,000.00 - Medical Exams required to obtain the SIV
$50 x 4 = $200.00 - registration fees in third country
$1000 - transportation out of Afghanistan and to lodging in new third country for 4 people
$850 - one month of lodging in a third country
$550 - food and misc costs such as transportation to and from embassy appointments, document printing, etc.
(Flights to be covered by No One Left Behind and Afghan Evac)
