Update: I spent 16 days in the hospital, and a more recent letter from my insurance company said, after describing my broken facial amd fractured leg bones, they'd only pay for the first three as neccessary BEFORE the surguries. I'm not sure where all this is headed so I'm updating this.
To anyone new seeing this, I wrote the following from my hospital bed and it is barely edited. Please excuse any typos and the fact that I don't like revisiting this. I have spoken severally times to authorities and had to do a photo "lineup", but only visit these things when I have to and when I'm sort of feeling up to it
The Original Post:
In the early morning of August 8th, I was brutally atracked, taken down from behind by a coward. I have never had a full broken bone in my body, but my nose, eye socket and tibia were fractured. Once I was knocked out and down, I was put in a move which pinned down my arms which allowed the coward to get on top of me and beat me in the face and head repeatedly. Fortunately he was stopped and ordered off me by passing police, I believe.
I believe his racist intention was to beat me to death.
Earlier in the evening I had walked into place that I knew to have a drink, and shortly thereafter he moved over by me. The discussion became about what we both did and he talk about how he worked in the ghetto. He said that he said that he and his fellow workers liked working there because of the "action". Shortly, he begain referencing those he worked around as the N word. He repeated it more and more. He went on to add that he worked around "N's" and "shines."
As I was not able to talk him out of his racist behavior, he took the opportunity to jump me on the sidewalk as I was leaving.
I remain hospitalized as of today.
I believe my ambulance deductible stops at $5,000 and I was taken to two hospitals which is why I set that. I also know that there is some sort of limits on the numbers of x-rays and CT scans I've undergone and time limits.
I want to thank all of you for any and all of you for any support as I deal with this life changing event.
