I was attacked by a random man at a MARTA train station, which has left me with a concussion and several facial fractures, including shattering of both nasal bones, a fractured septum, and a fracture to my left upper jaw. The incident was terrifying and has made everyday life much more challenging.
Because of my injuries, I was unable to work for a week. I don’t have a car, so I’ve had to rely on Ubers to get to work and to my doctor’s appointments. The costs have added up quickly, and it’s been difficult to keep up with everything while trying to recover.
I will also need ongoing follow-ups with ENT specialists to determine the extent of nasal reconstruction necessary to restore functioning. It has been difficult to get insurance authorization for procedures deemed “cosmetic” even though they are related to both function and recovery from the facial trauma. I received a closed reduction the day of the attack, but was told deformity was still likely as well as poor septum functioning.
The funds raised will go directly toward covering my transportation to work and medical appointments and helping with lost wages from the time I couldn’t work. Every bit of support will help me stay afloat as I focus on healing and getting back to my normal routine.
Any support would mean a lot during my recovery. I’m doing my best to stay positive and get back to work, and any help with transportation and lost wages will make a real difference. Thank you for considering a donation or sharing my story.
