My girlfriend and I were on a birthday road trip when everything changed in an instant. A semi truck cut someone off behind us, causing a terrible accident that totaled our rental car. The driver who hit us didn’t even stop to check if we were okay—they just left us there, shaken and hurt. My girlfriend, who had just celebrated being skin cancer free last April, is now facing a fractured spine, wrist, and knee because of this crash.

On top of the pain and trauma, she’s now responsible for paying back the rental company because she couldn’t afford insurance for the car. The medical bills are piling up as she gets the orthopedic care she needs to heal. It’s overwhelming to see her go through so much after everything she’s already overcome.
