My wife and I were supposed to visit her parents and family for Christmas, flying out on December 24th. Her mom has struggled with emphysema for many years and is now facing advanced lung cancer that has spread to her liver. This strong woman has survived so much, even coming back from the brink more than once, and her faith has carried her through. Now, she feels this may be her last Christmas, and all the family planned to be there, including us.
But life threw us a curveball. Less than two weeks ago, I was rushed to the hospital with severe chest pain. What started as a mild heart attack quickly became a journey no family wants to face. I ended up needing a 5-bypass open heart surgery after doctors found multiple blocked arteries and large embolisms. I spent eight days in the hospital, and now I’m home, beginning the long and painful recovery. As the primary income earner, being out of work for the next few months has turned our fear into financial worry. Even with insurance, the costs are overwhelming, and at 60 years old, the thought of going from no debt to a lifetime of debt is daunting.
We have always worked hard and tried to help others, but now we find ourselves needing help. The funds raised will go toward covering our bills, living expenses, and hopefully making it possible to visit my wife’s parents before her mom passes. If you are able to help, no matter how small, it would truly be a blessing. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, and may God bless you and your family. My prayer is that I can one day help others in the same way you help me.
