Afghan Military Family Needs Your Help!

During my husband's last deployment, he spent a year in Kabul working as an Advisor to the Afghan Army’s program to educate and empower women into leadership positions. When Afghanistan collapsed, these women and the Afghan Army members quickly became targeted by the Taliban. We are very excited to share that one of the women my husband worked with was able to narrowly escape and has made it here with her family! Her spouse also served in the Afghan Army and worked along side American forces for over a decade as an Officer in the Ministry of Education, and he is equally grateful to have a safe place for their children and his wife. These are amazingly brave and dedicated people that are extremely excited to be productive members of our society, but the adjustment is going to be hard for them. They are anxious to return to the workforce when they can, but they absolutely will not be able to work without a way to get there.

Any donations will be used to obtain reliable transportation to work and also to assist with their rent costs.

1. My name is Nicola Batts, I am a military spouse; we are stationed at MacDill Air Force Base.

2. We are sponsoring this family in the US after my spouse worked with her during an Afghanistan deployment.

3. We will transparently disperse funds or make direct purchases for Ruhullah and Zainab Shayan.

4. The funds will be spent on or towards purchasing vehicles for Ruhullah and Zainab to get to work and if there are any additional funds we will put it towards their rent and living expenses.
