Aeary is my brave 6-year-old daughter who has been fighting a rare and dangerous illness called pica since she was just a year old. Recently, she went through a major surgery that almost claimed her life, leaving her with 42 stitches down her stomach. Right now, she is coming out of the ICU and working hard in therapy to learn how to walk again. Alongside her physical recovery, Aeary is also undergoing psychological therapy and is being treated with medication to help manage her condition. Unfortunately, her Medicaid does not cover all of the medications or therapy she needs to continue her fight. This is the second time Aeary has had to endure a life-threatening surgery because of this illness, and as a parent, it’s heartbreaking to see her go through so much at such a young age.

One of the biggest challenges we face now is providing Aeary with a safe environment to recover. Because of her condition, we need to move to a new apartment or house without carpet, which is essential for her health and safety. The costs of moving, combined with ongoing medical and therapy expenses, have become overwhelming. I am reaching out for help and support so Aeary can have the best chance at recovery and a safer, healthier life.
