Texas Caregivers for Compromise Ad Campaign Ended

Help Texas Caregivers for Compromise fund air advertising over the Texas State Capitol!

Help us remind our legislators and the public that isolation still exists in long term care facilities and with the one year anniversary of the "lock-down" approaching on March 13, residents need a post-vaccine visitation plan and an end to emergency rules.

(sign in photo is a demo only- we would develop our own advertising based on the budget we wind up with)

Texas Caregivers for Compromise is a 3100 family advocacy group that works toward safe and reasonable visitation in long term care facilities. We introduced the concept of essential caregivers to Texas Health and Human Services in August, 2020 and saw reunions of loved ones after over six months of isolation  in the fall. But this is only partial access as two essential caregivers are allowed per resident, eliminating many children and siblings. Facilities often adopt policies that are far more restrictive than the guidelines themselves and many long term care residents continue to suffer from the despondency, rapid weight loss and cognitive decline brought on by isolation protocols.

Our 2020 advocacy efforts have included 300 traveling signs, a published advocacy book, a rally at the Texas Capitol, a 25,000 name petition printed repeatedly and mailed to elected officials, Governor Greg Abbott, and Texas HHSC.  We help families learn the guidelines and maneuver the complex environment of long term term care facilities who either do not know the rules, misunderstand the rules, or simply choose not to follow them.

In 2021, we have already begun a letter campaign to our entire legislature with "Isolation Kills, Too!" lapel pins and are developing a YouTube Channel as well as a website. All of this has been done so far at our own expense. But our biggest and most ambitious project  so far in 2021 is to fly air advertising over the Texas State Capitol to remind our legislatures that people in long term care facilities are still living and dying without those rights guaranteed them in our state and federal law. This project is one we may not be able to fund on our own.

Air Advertising Options
PLAN A -  Airplane flight in Austin with letters - $3500
PLAN B - Airplane flight in Austin $3500 plus cost of Logo Banner 25’x50' - $3250 = $6,750
PLAN C - Airplane light in Austin $3500 plus Aerial Billboard 40’x80’ - $9000 = $12,500

If the project is funded, the plane will either fly the trailing letters for one hour or the vendor will help us develop the logo banner with the trailing letters depending on how much funding we receive.

Texas is big and sometimes it takes something gutsy and gimmicky to get the attention of the people with the power to affect change.  It is our hope that our media heroes will help film and publicize our project so those elected officials who do not see the flyover with their own eyes will see in on the news.

The video below shows some of the residents who were, at last, reunited with their loved ones. Sadly, life is fleeting and many of these beautiful people have already passed away. We want to see all families reunited before this separation continues beyond a year. Let's do this!
