Life and Hope PAGE Helping Young Women in Cambodia

Established in 2005 by the Buddhist monks of Wat Damnak, Siem Reap, Life and Hope Association is a local Cambodian, non-government organization (NGO) focusing on breaking the cycle of poverty through education for disadvantaged girls. Our goal is to bring HOPE into LIFE through education.

Through compassionate care and access to education for the most vulnerable, we help young women escape poverty and bring HOPE to their lives and the lives of their families. Education for women in Cambodia remains a struggle particularly for those living in rural areas with high levels of economic disadvantage. The monks understood that girls had little chance of improving their lives due to lack of access to education so the Program for Advancing Girls Education, (PAGE), was born.

We focus on girls from poor communities who are most at risk, giving them the opportunity to graduate from high school, go on to university and lead happy, fulfilling and meaningful lives, acting as positive role models for Cambodian women. Through the PAGE program, Life and Hope has assisted over 200 girls to complete their education. Our graduates have gone on to become teachers, accountants, managers, or even start their own businesses.

PAGE is a safe, residential program supported by a small team and is very much a big family with former students regularly involved in providing nurturing support. We currently have 13 students who will complete high school at the end of this year, and are now enrolling 10 new students. Due to a lack of funding, we have had to reduce our student numbers over the past years.

How You Can Help:

We need a budget of around $2000 per student for 1 year.

As little as $20 will provide a school uniform or provide 1 student meals for 1 week.

$10 will provide school materials for 1 student or provide toiletries and hygiene products.

$50 can buy 1 bicycle or go towards clothing.

The monks are very committed to continuing well into the future, but need your help to continue.
