Help Adrienne and Darrell Heal

Donation protected
My name is Rhiannon Cone (Stefani-Haynes) and I'm creating this fundraiser to help my beautiful brother and sister in law, Darrell and Adrienne Stefani as they walk through rehabbing Adrienne from her bout with COVID and healing from the loss of their baby girl Sofia Grace Marie.

On August 5th Adrienne and Darrell tested positive for COVID with their toddler Dallas following with a positive a few days later. While Darrell and Dallas suffered mild symptoms in comparison, Adrienne's body was hit with every symptom we've read about to date.

Adrienne's oxygen levels dropped to 91, below the recommended 95 for pregnant women. She went to the ER where she was admitted and then transferred to Emanuel in the event of premature delivery and ensuring both Adrienne and Baby Girl Stefani received the best possible care. Almost immediately Adrienne's oxygen and lungs went downhill and within a few days she was put into an induced coma and onto a ventilator for 3 weeks. As the days progressed Adrienne's oxygen levels continued to decline; she was on the max settings on the ventilator and not showing any improvement. During this time the doctor's told my brother, Darrell, he should think about starting to make arrangements.

In the meantime Adrienne dilated to 1cm where she held for a couple of days. On Monday, August 23rd, 10 days after being admitted into the hospital, and a full 3 months (15 weeks) early Adrienne continued to dilate, her water broke, and Baby Girl Stefani was born.

Throughout all of this Darrell, whom is self employed, continued subcontracting while sick and quarantined with a 2 year old. As soon as he was cleared from quarantine Adrienne's mom, our mom, and Craig and I jumped on board to help out with Dallas as much as possible so Darrell could work his construction jobs during the day, and then go spend every night with their precious baby girl. He's return home in the early hours of the morning (4am-6am), sleep for 1-4 hours, and then be up to work again, and then hit the NICU.

Baby Girl started off seemingly stable with a few scary moments, but mostly highs the first couple of weeks and given a 60% chance of survival, while Mama (Adrienne) remained the same. For the family, remaining the same was a blessing as that meant to us that Adrienne was no worse. After three full weeks on the ventilator the doctors removed the tubes and inserted a trach. A week with the trach and the doctor's started to wean Adrienne off the paralytic and reduce her sedation medications as there was finally improvement in her oxygen levels.

With Mama awake, Darrell was finally allowed to see her so be begin to split the evenings between ICU with Adrienne and NICU with Baby Girl. It would be quite some time before Adrienne was going to be allowed to go see her, but they were able to finally talk and name their baby girl, Sofia Grace Marie Stefani.

Sofia's highs begin to decrease and her lows increased and each low became more severe. She developed pretty severe scarring in her tiny, under-developed lungs as well as a heart murmur. Her 60% chance of survival decreased and her time with us became a day by day, then hour by hour, and then minute by minute time frame. Due to the severity of her condition it was decided to take Adrienne to meet and touch her sweet Sofia. A week and a half, maybe two weeks (time has run together for our family) after waking Darrell and Adrienne were rushed from Adrienne's room in the early hours because Sofia had a major cardiac event resulting in CPR and more severe damage to Sofia's beautiful fragile little body. Randall's decided it was time to open up Sofia's room to family. Adrienne's mom Virginia, myself and Dallas all went up to the hospital to meet Sofia. While there, the doctor expressed they had exhausted all efforts and that Sofia was no longer improving, and that the damage to her little body was increasing, especially with the cardiac event. After 40 or so minutes of discussion they left us alone for Darrell and Adrienne to talk and make a decision that no parent should ever have to make.

For the next few hours Adrienne, Darrell, and myself were able to sit and hold, love on and cry over Sofia. I left the room for awhile so Darrell, Adrienne and Sofia could just be. I returned to have Darrell ask me to get the doctor because he believed Sofia had breathed her last. She came in and confirmed Sofia, the beautiful precious daughter, sister, grand-daughter and niece was gone, exactly four weeks after she arrived - September 20th. We cried for a while, then we all kissed her and said goodbye.

We are devastated, but we are thankful. We are thankful our beautiful Adrienne is here with us, we are beyond sad that our beautiful Sofia is not with us.

Adrienne has a long road of recovery. Her lungs are healing, her voice is healing, but her body needs a lot of healing. A month in a coma has left her weak and not able to function fully. She moved to the rehab floor on Sept 25th and started her physical rehab on Sept 26th. The better she does and stronger she gets the sooner she gets to go home and be with her husband and son, where they can start the grieving process as a family.

Once she gets home, which we still don't know when will happen, she still has a ways to go before she can go back to work. She will need help at home that she normally doesn't need. In order for Darrell to be there and care for her and Dallas they way they need he will need to be very picky on the contracting jobs he can take. He will also need to do more subcontracting that doesn't involve him doing the labor so he can be home more. That's where this GoFundMe comes into play. We are hoping to get them six months of monthly expenses (the total goal minus the processing fees and transaction fees). We know these are hard times for everyone and we are so grateful for any and all support, even if it is just thoughts and prayers. We know there is no just in people offering thoughts and prayers; there is so much power in support and prayer.

We thank you all, especially those whom have walked out the last few months with us through this worry and pain.

God Bless.

Sofia Grace Marie Stefani - Monday, August 23rd, 2021 - Monday, September 20,2021. You are so loved baby girl. You are so missed. You are so precious.
