Help Adrian with his life saving kidney transplant

Donation protected
Adrian Camacho is a 31-year-old father and husband who needs help to raise money for his medication treatment after he receives a life-saving kidney transplant. My uncle was born with two kidneys that never fully developed. It was not until he was 18-years old when he realized there was something wrong.

Adrian would randomly get fatigued and dizzy during the day. As a result, he went to his doctor and they performed tests. However, they were unable to detect that his kidneys were not fully developed and instead, the doctors stated his kidneys were scratched. Adrian received medication but it did not help at all and he even felt worse. For example, he was getting a ton of pimples on his face and he would have this weird acidic and metallic taste on his tongue. He would chew gum to try to get rid of the taste, but the gum would dissolve on his tongue. Since the medication was not helping Adrian feel better, he decided to stop taking it and started to eat more healthily and exercise. When exercising, he realized that he was getting tired quickly and struggled with stairs. Also, he began to develop a loss of appetite, his whole body felt swollen, chest felt heavy, breathing was hard, eyes were red, blood would sometimes come out of his nose, and always felt sleepy. It was not until one night when Adrian was vomiting blood when he decided to go to the emergency room.

After spending several hours in the emergency room, Adrian told the doctors he had to leave to go to work, but the doctors told him his condition is deadly and he would die if he left. The doctors told him to stay because they wanted to save his life. After the doctors did some tests, they realized his kidneys were the same size as baby kidneys and he had a lot of liquid in multiple organs. As a result, they performed surgery to get rid of the liquid from his organs. After the surgery, Adrian spent a month at the hospital for treatment and recovery. In the first week, he was under dialysis 24/7. For the remaining three weeks, he was recovering and only receiving dialysis during the nights. In order for Adrian to go back home, the doctors had to give him peritoneal dialysis as his form of treatment so he can live. This treatment involves the process of installing tubes in his abdomen so he can perform his own dialysis every day at home.

However, the doctors also gave Adrian hemodialysis as a treatment in case there is ever a time when the peritoneal dialysis is failing. Hemodialysis is another form of dialysis, but this time it is located inside of his left arm.

For the last eight years, Adrian has been under this form of treatment of dialysis, which is maintaining him alive.

During August of 2019, Adrian had to receive heart surgery. One night, he was struggling to breathe and his chest developed an excruciating pain. He said the pain felt like a knife was in his heart. He went to the hospital and tests showed that one of the valves in his heart was not working properly, which almost resulted in a heart attack. Therefore, he received heart surgery to fix the valve that was not working. Consequently, now Adrian is required to take medicine every day to lower his blood pressure for the rest of his life.

For the last eight years, Adrian has been on the waitlist for a kidney transplant. Thankfully, my dad and another person are willing to be donars to help him with his kidney transplant, but the doctors are not allowing the transplant to happen without having money for the medication after the surgery. This is why we decided to create this gofundme. The doctors told Adrian it would be ideal for him to have $200,000 in savings, but $150,000 would be just enough for the medication and for the doctors to go along with the transplant. Even though dialysis is helping my uncle to maintain him alive, his condition is just getting worse as time goes on, and only a kidney transplant would truly help and save him.

It was not until my family and I finally reunited with my uncle and his family after 10 years for Christmas when we learned about his condition. At first, my uncle was hiding his situation from us, but we noticed something was not quite right. We eventually learned about his situation and immediately started coming up with ideas to help achieve his goal. Before we reunited, Adrian said his life was depending on how far the dialysis treatment could take him. However, he has changed his mindset and now he is motivated to do anything possible to receive his life-saving transplant. Any donation will help out tremendously and be greatly appreciated. Also, if you are able to support by sharing this gofundme, we will be very grateful. We thank you in advance.
