Help Adrian Fight ARDS

Donation protected

On March 6, 2019, my friend Sarah Bishop’s husband Adrian came home from work sick.  He was in bed for a few days.  They thought he was getting better.  That Friday night he started having trouble breathing and she called the ambulance in the middle of the night.

He passed out in the ambulance and after running tests at Baptist Hospital in Memphis, they found out he had Influenza Type A and Double Pneumonia in both lungs.  They put him in a regular room.  He went downhill in 2 days and went into ARDS (lung failure).  He was moved to ICU Stepdown.  The day after that he was moved to ICU, intubated, and put on a rotoprone machine for 3 days.  He was improving and then starting going downhill again.  He developed a secondary infection in the hospital in his lungs.  They decided to do V-V ECMO which is a life support system that circulates your blood outside of your body, takes out carbon dioxide, and puts it back in.  He had ECMO put in on March 18, 2019 and remains critical  in CVICU.  On March 21, 2019, they removed the tube from his throat and did a tracheotomy.  He remains in critical care and needs our prayers.

Sarah and Adrian have 5 kids and 4 of them are still at home and little.   Adrian works in business and Sarah is a minister who has been a stay at home mom for 11 years.  Sarah’s mother has come to keep the kids the first 2 weeks so she can be up at the hospital with Adrian.  Her mom has to leave in one more week and Sarah has decided that hiring a consistant babysitter in their home is the best thing for their 3 year old.  This is also the plan for when all 4 kids are out of school in 8 weeks.

The doctors are telling Sarah that Adrian’s recovery could take a year.  And that she really needs to be there for him in the coming months in the hospital and in the rehab facility.  They said this will be a long marathon.

Sarah has great faith in God as a minister and she is also overwhelmed and very scared.

They will have expenses in the coming months and year that they normally don’t.  They will have medical expenses, childcare expenses, gas and food expenses because they live 35 minutes from the hospital, self-care expenses to provide emotional support for Sarah during this long time period.  There are also other expenses that Sarah will have where Adrian has taken care of things like cars, household maintenance etc. in the past.

Any funds given will go straight to the Bishop family to help with these things and other needs that they might have during this long road to recovery.  No amount given is too small and anything is so appreciated.  Thank you for being part of their support system during this time.

Most of all, Sarah would ask you all to pray for Adrian’s healing and for their family.
