Help Adri Heal: Surgeries & Recovery Fund
Donation protected
If you have met Adri Grey, you know that she is a resilient, kind, loving person who cares deeply for the people around her. You may know her for her big smile, her silly dancing at family gatherings, her love of sports, her excited rants about boxing and rugby, or her dedication to her students and their well-being. You also probably know that she is not one to ask for help — after nearly 13 hospitalizations and surgeries since her first diagnosis in 2020, she has quietly endured the burdens of an unstable income, medical bills, and a physically, mentally, and financially draining recovery process.
We have created this GoFundMe to help Adri Grey as she prepares for an Ulnar Shortening Osteomy, an unnerving substantial surgical procedure, and the long recovery that lies ahead as someone with Addison’s Disease, an autoimmune disease that is stress-induced and has hindered her body’s ability to heal within a normal timeframe. This donation will go towards supporting her healing journey which includes intense rehabilitation , physical and occupational therapies, a follow-up pin removal procedure, up to two months out of work, out of pocket medical costs (i.e. nerve blocks, medications, copays, etc.), post-op specialists, intense physical and talk therapy, and the general expenses that come with recovering from a substantial operation.
Adri Grey is no stranger to operations or immunological blunders as she has lived with Addison’s Disease, gastroparesis, endometriosis, and Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) — the cause of this surgery — for several years now. For those of you who may not be familiar, CRPS is a chronic pain condition that most often affects one limb usually after an injury. In her case it’s her dominant arm and hand. CRPS is characterized by prolonged or excessive pain and changes in skin color, temperature, and/or swelling in the affected area. For Adri Grey, this has also meant immobility in some of her fingers on her dominant hand.
Despite all of this, Adri Grey is dedicated to her health and determined to undergo all the necessary procedures that may come her way, so that she can finally finish her bachelor’s degree and get on path to a more stable, healthy lifestyle.
Any donation that you can make, big or small, will be greatly appreciated. We don’t know what the recovery process will look like and how long it may take to regain strength to use her arm again, but this will help to alleviate some of the financial stressors that lie ahead. If you can’t donate right now, please just share this Go Fund Me link with others who know Adri Grey and would be willing to help. Thank you so much for all your support! With peace love and positivity! Thank you.
