Help The ADMS Protect Donkey Heritage Through Its Registry
Donation protected
Hi !
I am Elizabeth Grillo of Purple Donkey Human Rescue and Cypress Farm Registered Miniature Donkeys. Along with the many donkey enthusiasts of the American Donkey Society, I would like to ask all donkey & mule lovers, their friends, family and those in their sphere of influence to support our National Donkey and Mule Registry,
THE AMERICAN DONKEY AND MULE SOCIETY through this time of financial hardship.
... Why you ask ?
Back in 1958, Daniel and Bea Langford (Danby Farms) established the Miniature Donkey Registry of the United States. In 1987, the registry (comprised of paper documents within 3 file cabinets) was transferred to American Donkey and Mule Society (ADMS) located in Denton, TX. ADMS was already maintaining the American Donkey Registry (ADR, established in 1967). The Zebra Hybrid/Bloodstock Registry was added in 1997.
Based upon the age of these registries, it is critical to preserve data in a safe environment with the dedication and knowledge of the ADMS leadership team. The MDR registry contains 66 years of information with over 60,000 records and data going back to the original imports from Italy and foundation stock. The registries under the ADMS “umbrella” are critical to the entire Donkey industry and must be protected and preserved. Recently the annual grant of $30,000 that supported the ADMS expired. The goal of this fundraiser is to support one year of operations and staff at the ADMS.
Many breeds of donkey are considered rare breeds and even endangered. Donkeys, both domestic and wild are currently under attack for the sale of their skins throughout the world. It it vital that we support the organization that works each and every day to record the history and thus the promise of the health and wellness of animals that will carry the integrity of the breed into the future. The kind, intelligent and humble donkey is the second domesticated animal in human history. Please support the THE AMERICAN DONKEY AND MULE SOCIETY in any way you can and spread the word using this link.
With this donation you will help secure a place for mankind's gentle companion in history.
Thank you
