Hello! My name is Adiza Mohammed, I’m an environmental communicator, a passionate children’s book author, and a proud mother of toddler twins. My family and I recently moved to Canada to start a new life filled with hope, purpose, and the desire to make a difference.
I’ve been accepted into the MSc in International Marine Science program at Heriot-Watt University (UK) — a fully online course designed to prepare me for a career as a lecturer, marine advocate, and youth educator. Although my initial start date was May 2025, I’ve had to defer to the September 2025 intake due to financial limitations. I’m now working hard to raise the funds needed to begin my studies without losing this life-changing opportunity.
As a newcomer to Canada, I do not yet have access to local student loans or financial aid. That’s why I’m turning to you — my community, friends, and supporters — to help raise $7,000 to cover the initial tuition and registration fees for my first one or two courses.
Why This Matters
Education and youth empowerment have always been at the heart of my work.
I am currently producing two educational children’s books:
Waves of Change – In production with funding support from Ocean Wise, this book introduces children aged 6–12 to ocean conservation through storytelling, art, and community voices.
Afrika – Our Amazing Planet – A second project in progress that teaches kids in underserved African communities about climate change, pollution, wildlife, and renewable energy. It will be translated into six African languages and distributed for free, because I believe every child deserves access to knowledge, no matter where they live.
These books are more than stories — they are tools for learning, empowerment, and change. And my master’s program will give me the foundation I need to expand this work, reach more children, and eventually lecture and mentor youth here in Canada and globally.
What Your Support Will Do
Your donation will directly help me:
• Register and pay for my first one or two MSc courses at Heriot-Watt
• Cover required university and student fees
• Continue my educational book work with peace of mind
• Position myself for future employment, as the fully online format allows me to work while studying
My Promise to You
I’m doing everything I can to contribute meaningfully to my new home in Canada and continue making a difference globally through education, writing, and advocacy. I am more than happy to provide any documentation needed, including proof of admission, book projects, or tuition details.
Your support — no matter how small — brings me one step closer to building a better future, not just for myself and my family, but for the many children and communities I aim to reach.
Thank you for believing in me.
With sincere gratitude,
Adiza Mohammed
