Adis, my chocolate lab, has been a beloved part of our family for over six years. He originally came to us as a puppy from Florida, where he lived with my aunt Erika. When Erika lost her father, she brought Adis to Philadelphia so she could attend the funeral in France, since we are French, and later spent six months in France, leaving Adis with us. By the time Erika returned, Adis had become so integrated into our lives that she decided he should stay with us. Since then, Adis has been my oldest friend and a staple in our family and community. As a kid, he was even part of my friend group—my friends and I would take him on adventures and play games like hide and seek and tag with him. He’s so special that even strangers call his name when we walk him, and he’s a familiar face outside our restaurant, Chateau Rouge, where many clients stop by just to say hello. Adis’s charm is undeniable—he brings joy to everyone he meets, and his presence is a source of happiness for so many people. We even had a woman so taken with him that she spent a day with Adis, and it was a highlight for her.

Unfortunately, Adis is now suffering from kidney failure and urgently needs medical care that we cannot afford. I was prepared for the worst, but seeing how hard Adis is fighting to stay alive and how happy he is to see us during hospital visits has inspired me to keep fighting for him. Adis has given us countless smiles, hugs, and kisses, and now I’m asking the community he has touched to help us give him the care he needs.
