My name is Adina. I'm a 29-year-old transgender woman from the United States of America. I have been transgender for over 15 years and have spent much of that time making concessions, settling, and giving up on things that will bring me joy and comfort in my own body.

As of this month, I have been on HRT for around 10 years and have been in talks with a surgeon about orchiectomy, but this discussion has made the desire for full GRS I've had for years now bubble to the surface.

I suffer from hip and back problems (including my legs giving out on me, burning pains in my spine, pain in my hips with activity, and various other symptoms) which prevent me from being able to meet the demands that employment has of me, so I have no income of my own.

I am also constantly afraid when I am outside that I will be clocked and harassed or hurt for who I am, which makes it hard for me to will myself to go outside, even on days when I'm not in immense pain.

And now, our current administration threatens to take away my access to transgender care.

This threat has made me realize exactly how important GRS is to me, and how much I hope for the day I can receive it, and how much I fear a future where it's not an option for me.

I, however, have no income, so the idea of accessing this care feels more like a pipe dream to me than anything, but I have to hope for the best future I can.

With how poorly my treatment for my hip and back problems has been going, I've lost so much hope, but I've recently realized how much irrepressible hope I have when I think about gender reassignment surgery, and I want to hold onto that hope to carry me forward.

It would mean the world to me to receive this surgery, and any support I receive will be a breath of fresh air.
