Hi all, my name is Adil, and I’m a PhD student at the University of Washington. My cat, Shadow, has been with me since she was a kitten—she’s now 8 years old and truly my family. She has been my constant support through the hardest times, and now, she needs life-saving surgery tomorrow.
A little over a week ago, Shadow suddenly became lethargic, stopped eating, and developed a high fever. Tests revealed a severe liver and bile duct abscess—an extremely rare and life-threatening infection. She was hospitalized and put on IV antibiotics, and for a while, she was getting better. But yesterday, her symptoms came back worse than before. Now, surgery is her only chance.
The procedure is risky, and it doesn’t guarantee a full recovery—but without it, she has no chance at all. The estimate is $20,000, which is more than I can afford on a grad student salary. I’ve already used everything I had to cover her first hospitalization, and I don’t know how to do this alone.
If you’re able to donate, even a small amount, it would mean the world to me and Shadow. And if you can’t donate, sharing this fundraiser would help more than you know.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart—I’ll keep you all updated on her progress.
With gratitude,
Adil & Shadow
