Hello, my name is Layla, and I created this campaign to support Adham Sheikh Al-Eid and his family in Gaza.

I first came to know Adham through his cousin, Alaa, whom I have been supporting for almost a year through his own fundraiser. Alaa is just 17 years old, an orphan living with muscular dystrophy and severe malnutrition, with seven younger siblings who depend on him. Through supporting Alaa, I came to know Adham and began to see the enormous amount of care and responsibility he carries every day.

Adham is Alaa’s cousin, and I came to know him through my support for Alaa. Over the time I have known him, I have come to realise just how much Adham does for his cousin and how much responsibility he carries on his shoulders. He has been a backbone of support for Alaa, helping him get to hospital appointments, organising his physiotherapy, making sure he has what he needs, and regularly sending me content and updates so that I can continue sharing Alaa’s situation with those supporting him. But as I have come to know Adham, I have also seen how much he is carrying himself — constantly running between the needs of Alaa and the needs of his own large family, doing everything he can to keep everyone going.

Adham is 25 years old and lives with his parents, Alaa Omar Sheikh Al-Eid and Hanaa Sheikh Al-Eid, and his eight younger siblings in a tent in Gaza. Together, they are a family of 11 struggling to meet their basic needs.

This fundraiser is to help Adham and his family with the essentials they need to get through each day. The funds raised will go towards:

* Food and clean drinking water

* Essential clothing and shoes for the children

* Medicine and basic healthcare needs

* Hygiene and personal-care supplies

* Education and school-related necessities

* Basic shelter and household essentials

* Other urgent day-to-day necessities as they arise

I have watched Adham spend so much of his time trying to help the people around him. He is constantly running from one responsibility to another — supporting his parents and younger siblings, helping his cousin Alaa, attending appointments, arranging necessities and trying to find whatever his family needs next.

He deserves the chance to breathe, too.
