Adena is a young mum who has Motor neurone disease (MND/ ALS). Adena needs your help as her disease is progressing and the home she lives in is no longer suitable and safe for her and her family. The aim is to raise funds so that Adena and her family are able to build their forever home so that she can live her last year/s well.
The funding will go towards ensuring wider doorways so that Adena can move in and out of each room, provision for a hoist to help with daily lifting and accessible bathroom areas. All these things I find that I take for granted.

Meet Adena. She’s a young mum of two beautiful kids Amelia (7) and Xander (4) and devoted wife to Shane.
This young family had everything going for them. Adena was pursuing her career while being a busy working mum. She had just completed a Diploma in marketing and was looking forward to taking on a new role.
Still living with the in-laws, this was supposed to be their ‘ticket out’ as they had plans to build a family home.
But a trip to the neurologist on a fresh Monday morning in September 2018 changed all that.
When the doctor delivered the devastating news...
Adena has Motor Neurone Disease (MND/ALS)
MND is a fast progressing neurological disease which is terminal and effects an individuals speech and ability to move and eventually your ability to breath. The life span of someone with MND is usually 2-5 years.
Fast forward two years and Adena’s MND has progressed and requires around the clock care. She is walking less and relies on carers for manual transfers and for getting around the home. This isn’t made easy as she lives with her in laws, in an increasingly unsuitable house as her disease progresses.
Adena and her husband are hoping to finally build their forever home this year.
This is where you come in. While they have managed to save for a home, the customisations required to make it liveable for Adena have blown the budget and the assistance that they were counting on from the Government, has been denied.
Every little bit counts and I just want to be able to make Adena’s dream become a reality for her and her family.
